Summer Here at Last? Swallows have arrived in Pembrokeshire

April 29, 2008 – 9:48 am

A year ago, I was on holiday in the Fens and the weather almost summer like.  Sunny and quite unseasonably hot for April.  TV showed people in the sea.

This year, the weather is undecided whether its to be warm or to rain.

However, going to Letterston to collect a Composting Bin I had got through Free Cycle Pembrokeshire,  I was pleased to see that the swallows have arrived, so presumably summer is around the corner.

You cannot beat Pembrokeshire at this time of year.  The longer nights, temperatures getting warmer, NO holiday makers clogging the roads, but what is best of all, is the variety and colour of flowers that line many of the roads and lanes. I refer especially to bluebells.

I remember the flowers beside the roads in Wiltshire, when I was a young lad, but coming to Pembrokeshire has mde me realise that the heavy traffic in Wiltshire has effectively killed of those flowers.

If only the people of Pembrokeshire realised how lucky we are at the variety of flowers and wildlife, we have all around us!
